Another excerpt from my Myspace Blogs. Originally Published: August 24th, 2008

Just many random clips from my writing that I felt might offer some form of philosophy for anyone interested. I’ve compiled them and drawn inspiration from my own experience and from compelling conversations with interesting people, as any philosopher should:

I don’t shoot for the stars, I gun them down.™

You are born with two eyes, two ears and one mouth. It is wise to use your senses proportionately. Look and listen, twice as much as you speak. For if you speak too much, your words will become diluted and lose meaning.

Regarding toxic relationships:
What starts in chaos, most certainly must end in chaos.
Women are drawn to certain men and situations because of what is referred to as the familiarity complex. If they were raised and treated badly by their father, they will be attracted to the same type of man. Ladies, be aware of this and don’t settle for the familiar.

Johnny Blaze on relationships and compatibility:
Chances are, there will always be someone out there for you better than who you are currently with, but you must not continue to jump from relationship to relationship because you think this next person is a better match for you. If you do, you will never settle down with anyone because you will just keep looking for that better match. You see, a relationship can be divided into three different parts: passion, commitment, and intimacy. Now of these three elements, passion is the most fleeting, because it is never permanent. If you have a relationship based on passion it will always eventually burn out, you must have the other two factors in order for the relationship to survive. A strictly passionate relationship is built off infatuation and that is never healthy, and although these tend to feel the best, because they are the most thrilling and exciting, it will go down in flames, you must share the intimacy and trust in commitment.

I believe it is possible to choose who you love. You can settle down with someone and know that there will be other people out there for you than just one person. Time spent together, if the chemistry is right, will undoubtedly breed love. However, it will be a more mature type of love, one that has transcended the “puppy love” aspect of lust and passion that are usually mistaken for true love. Whether there is passion in the first stages of the relationship or not, once it is gone, as long as there is intimacy and commitment, it has a high chance to succeed. Because this actual emotion of “love”, is way too unstable to chase around and half the time, it is being mistaken for lust or passion.

8.24.08:

Follow Johnny’s Double Ex Rule:
Do not speak or keep in close communication with your most recent ex girlfriend/boyfriend if you are currently seeing someone new. Out of respect, and peace of mind for your significant other. We all know it would make them uncomfortable if you did so, but it’s a weird situation and they may get the feeling that if they were to say something about it, it would upset you. However, it is alright to speak to what I like to refer to as the “double-ex”. This is the person before your most recent ex. By the time, you’ve dated another person, broken up, and moved on to another, there should not be a surplus of emotion bottled up between you two, waiting to find a catharsis. Follow this and you and your significant other will avoid many an unwanted argument.

8.30.08:
A way to test whether you are truly over your ex or not:
…if your best friend can sleep with them and it doesn’t phase you. It doesn’t have to actually happen, the thought alone should be enough to determine your attatchment.

Cheating:
Like a burn or a homicide, there are three levels of cheating:

1st degree - Premeditated. It was planned out ahead of time and you went out and looked for it.

2nd degree - Spontaneity. It just happened out of the blue, you weren’t looking for it, but it came your way and you rolled with it.

3rd degree - You were seduced, victimized or otherwise coerced into doing it by means of drugging, rape, intoxication, or anything of the sort. However, consequences most likely will follow for the mere fact that the person put themselves in the situation in the first place.

9.2.08:
The Written Word:
If you really care for someone, write them a letter. You’d be surprised how powerful of a gesture this can be. It holds much more weight than a text or email, and is much more personal. Methods of impersonal communication such a texting have diluted the written word, and taken away its intimacy. Whatever happened to going to your friend’s house to speak to them instead of placing a phone call or sending a text. Think of how it was back in the day, simpler, you will stand out.

9.10.08:
The person that is in love with you today, may be a total stranger tomorrow.™
